Analysis on the current status of capacitor industry development
Aug 15, 2024
Capacitor Overview
Two conductors close to each other, with a non-conductive insulating medium in between, constitute a capacitor. Capacitors have two basic properties: one is to store charge, and the other is to allow AC to pass instead of DC. This feature is used in various forms in the circuits of daily electronic products and plays an important role.
Capacitors mainly include tantalum electrolytic capacitors, aluminum electrolytic capacitors, ceramic capacitors, and film capacitors, accounting for 7%, 32%, 53%, and 8% respectively. The four different types of capacitors have different characteristics: ceramic capacitors have obvious advantages in miniaturization, especially for consumer electronic devices, and their capacitance is relatively small, suitable for high-frequency fields; electrolytic capacitors have relatively large capacitance and are suitable for low-frequency fields; the capacitance of film capacitors is between the first two, and the outstanding advantages are high voltage resistance and good reliability.
Current status of the capacitor industry
Ceramic capacitors and aluminum electrolytic capacitors have the largest withstand voltage range, and the capacity range meets the needs of mainstream applications, so these two types of capacitors have the highest market share. According to data, in 2020, China's ceramic capacitor market accounted for 53.2%, and the aluminum electrolytic capacitor market accounted for 26.4%.
Capacitor Product Structure
In terms of export quantity, aluminum electrolytic capacitors had the highest export volume in 2020, reaching 38,350.6 tons, accounting for 35.3% of the total export volume; followed by capacitors with paper or plastic dielectrics, with an export volume of 36,341.4 tons, accounting for 33.5% of the total export volume; third was ceramic dielectric capacitors, with an export volume of 15,452.7 tons, accounting for 14.2% of the total export volume.
In terms of import quantity, the import volume of aluminum electrolytic capacitors was the highest in 2020, reaching 33,790.4 tons, accounting for 46.3% of the total export volume; followed by ceramic dielectric capacitors, with an import volume of 24,632.6 tons, accounting for 33.7% of the total export volume; third was paper or plastic dielectric capacitors, with an import volume of 8,901.5 tons, accounting for 12.2% of the total export volume.
summary
Overall, the capacitor tank industry has broad development prospects and huge market potential. With the continuous advancement of technology and the expansion of application areas, the capacitor industry will continue to maintain steady growth and become an important part of the electronic component market.
