Causes and countermeasures of material turning and distortion during stamping

  • Influence of punching force: During the punching process, the punching force has the main effect on turning over and twisting the stamped parts. Due to the existence of the blanking gap, the material is stretched on one side of the die and compressed on the side of the punch, resulting in the turning and twisting of the stamping.
  • Reasonable mold design: By reasonably arranging the blanking sequence, especially for the punching of small parts, first arrange the punching and blanking of a larger area, and then arrange the punching and blanking of a smaller area to reduce the punching force on the stamping parts shaping effect.
  • Pressing the material: Adopting a non-traditional mold design structure, a material-accommodating gap is set up on the unloading plate, so that the unloading plate can press the material and prevent the punching from turning over and twisting. The key forming part can use the unloading plate with a block structure to solve the problem of wear on the pressing part of the unloading plate caused by long-time stamping.
  • Added strong pressure function: Thicken the size of the pressing part of the unloading insert, increase the pressure on the material on the die side, and restrain the stamping parts from turning over and twisting during punching.
  • Trim the bevel or arc at the edge of the punch: By adding a bevel or arc to the edge of the punch, the buffer cutting force is reduced, and the tensile force on the material on the die side is reduced, thereby preventing the stamping from turning over distortion.
  • Maintain the sharpness of the punching edge: Regularly check and maintain the sharpness of the punching convex and concave die edges to avoid the situation where the punching edge wears and increases the tensile stress of the material.
  • Reasonable punching gap: Unreasonable or uneven punching gap may also cause stamping parts to turn over and twist, so it should be overcome.
  • Treatment of specific problems: In production, if the size of the punching hole is too large or too small, and the size of the punch is greatly different from that of the punch, it should be solved from multiple aspects, including the wear of the punching edge, the impact of strong pressure on the material and Factors such as the shape of the end of the punch edge.

The above measures can help effectively solve the problems of turning over and twisting during stamping, and ensure the forming accuracy and quality of stamping parts. In production practice, analyzing and adjusting specific problems will help improve production efficiency and product quality.
