Industrial PLC Cabinet Protection Level Standards and Definitions
PLC Control Cabinet is the core equipment of industrial automation systems, and its protective performance directly affects the safety and stable operation of internal electrical components. The protection level of the control cabinet follows the international standard IEC 60529 and is identified using IP codes to characterize the equipment's ability to protect against personnel electric shock, solid foreign object intrusion, and liquid infiltration. The IP code consists of the letter IP followed by two digits. The first digit represents the dust and solid foreign object protection level, and the second digit represents the waterproof level. The larger the digit, the stronger the corresponding protection ability.

Common types and structural characteristics
Industrial PLC cabinets can be divided into three categories based on their structural form: welding cabinets, profile bending cabinets, and standard modular cabinets. The welding cabinet adopts an integral welding structure with low manufacturing cost, but its sealing performance is limited. The protection level is mostly IP54 or below, and it cannot be reconstructed, which is not conducive to later expansion and maintenance. It is suitable for ordinary occasions with low environmental requirements and limited budget. The profile bending cabinet is made by splicing multiple sheet metal and bolts, with high modularity, good grounding continuity, and a protection level of IP55 or above. It is flexible to install and easy to expand in parallel, making it the mainstream choice for industrial automation systems. PLC Cabinet Components are more complete in material accuracy, sealing technology, heat dissipation design, and accessory matching, with a protection level of IP55/IP65, suitable for critical scenarios with high reliability and service life requirements.

Applicable scenarios for Application Cabinets with different levels of protection
IP54/IP55 is the mainstream protection level for general industrial environments, which can cope with conventional dust, water vapor, and splashes. The PLC System Cabinet for Sewage is widely used in ordinary workshops, automation equipment interiors, and sheltered outdoor environments. The IP20 protection level is relatively low, with only the ability to prevent electric shock and large particle solid intrusion. It is not waterproof and suitable for dry controlled environments such as distribution rooms, central control rooms, and clean laboratories. IP65 can achieve complete dust prevention and resist low-pressure water spray. Electric Cabinets PLC Panel Cabinet is a commonly used rating for harsh industrial and outdoor scenarios, suitable for food and medicine, high dust workshops, and covered outdoor installations. IP66/IP67 has a higher protection level and can withstand strong water spray or even short-term immersion. It is commonly used for equipment such as wind power, photovoltaics, and port machinery that are completely outdoor or require high-pressure flushing. IP68 supports continuous immersion and is mainly used for special underwater equipment and special industrial equipment.

Key considerations for design
The basic requirement for the design of PLC Panel Control Logic Program Stainless Steel Automatic Cabinet is a protection level of not less than IP54. Foam sealing strips should be equipped at the sheet metal joints, and the compression of the door panel sealing strips should be controlled at 25% -30%. The top of the cabinet should not be opened randomly. Special waterproof connectors must be used for cable introduction, and unused holes must be sealed with blind plugs. The connection between the cable tray and G8 Switchgear PLC Automatic Control Cabinet Panels also needs to be sealed with waterproof connectors. Some high-end modular cabinets can use special sealing clamps to achieve equivalent protection effects. For equipment exported to Europe, in order to meet CE certification requirements, exposed components such as touch screens, operation buttons, and industrial computers must be installed in cabinets with a protection level of IP54 or higher to ensure personnel safety and stable equipment operation.
