Definition of Server racks
Server racks are specialized furniture used in data centers and server rooms to store servers, network equipment, and other IT hardware. Their main functions include compactly arranging telecommunications and electrical equipment, quickly accessing various types of hardware, maintaining appropriate temperatures to ensure continuous operation of equipment, and protecting equipment from contamination and unauthorized access.

Structure of Server racks
Frame
This is the body of the network rack and provides structural support for the equipment installed in it. It is usually made of sturdy metal materials to ensure that it can withstand heavier equipment loads.
Mounting rails
Vertical metal bars with holes or slots for mounting equipment. Data cabinet rails usually conform to the 19-inch rack standard, with fixed hole spacing (usually in groups of three, called "rack units" or "U").
Side panels and doors
In closed racks, removable side panels provide access for maintenance while providing protection and aesthetics when installed in place. Front and rear doors enhance security and help manage airflow. Doors can be solid, perforated, or made of glass, depending on the purpose of the network cabinet.

Modular design allows data racks to easily adapt to equipment of different sizes and shapes, providing flexibility and future expansion for data centers. This design also makes it easy to add more servers or upgrade existing equipment without large-scale system modifications.

Steel has high strength and resistance to mechanical stress. The steel sheets commonly used to make wall-mounted data cabinets are 1-2 mm thick, providing a stable support for heavy equipment. This strength allows the rack to safely carry the weight of network equipment.
ProtectionSteel's thickness and toughness make it ideal for rack mount enclosures, which are used to make enclosed racks placed in public spaces to protect hardware from external impacts.
Stability
Since network cabinet wall mounts often need to be moved or adjusted, metal structures prevent instability and reduce the risk of equipment toppling over.

Metal has good heat dissipation properties. With proper ventilation, metal racks for the comms rack help maintain optimal operating temperatures, which is critical for the continued operation of data centers.
Fire and Moisture Resistance
Server racks are fire and moisture-resistant. In the event of fire or water exposure, these properties protect equipment from damage, adding an extra layer of safety.
