Copper Bus Bar With Epoxy Powder Insulation

Copper Bus Bar With Epoxy Powder Insulation

Copper Bus Bar with Epoxy Powder Insulation is a composite conductive insulating component that is evenly covered with a layer of high-performance epoxy insulating powder on the surface of high-quality copper materials through electrostatic spraying or fluidized bed processes and cured at high temperatures. This product is not a simple "copper bar + coating" superposition, but uses physical and chemical interface fusion technology to form a strong combination with almost no interface between the insulation layer and the copper matrix.

Product Introduction
Copper Bus Bar with Epoxy Powder Insulation

Copper Bus Bar with Epoxy Powder Insulation is positioned in the fields of mid-to-high-end electrical engineering, new energy supporting, rail transportation and industrial automation. It is especially suitable for application scenarios that have strict requirements on insulation reliability, compact structure and long-term service stability. This structure fundamentally eliminates the hidden dangers of traditional insulation methods (local gaps, air residue, aging looseness, etc. that may occur during use), and provides true "integrated insulation protection" for electrical systems.

Corner coverage

The coating maintains sufficient thickness at edges and chamfers, without exposed bottoms or thin spots, and is verified by a high-pressure leak detector. The edges of the copper bars are precisely chamfered or rounded, which not only facilitates powder adsorption, but also eliminates the risk of injury to installers caused by sharp edges.

01

Hole insulation

The inner wall of the installation hole is also covered by an insulation layer to avoid the risk of creepage when bolts pass through. If the design requires that the holes be unpainted (for overlapping conductive connections), we can mask the holes before spraying. Laser marking or silk screen printing of QR codes for Busbar Insulation Paint.

02

Surface condition

The insulating coating is accurately removed at the bolt connection holes to expose the bright copper surface. The coating surface is smooth and even, without defects such as orange peel, sags, particles, etc., and the color consistency is good for Insulated Coating Tinned Solid Copper Busbar Connector.

03

Overlap surface treatment

For parts that require exposed copper surfaces for electrical overlap,

which can be tinned or silver-plated according to customer needs to reduce contact resistance. We can use precise masking or post-coating processing to ensure the conductive performance and contact resistance requirements of the overlapping surface for Insulating Coatings Busbar.

Production process

copper bar pretreatment

Cutting and punching: Precisely cut and punch the copper bars according to the drawing size to ensure that the dimensional tolerance is controlled within ±0.3mm. Deburring and chamfering: chamfering or rounding all edges to eliminate sharp corner burrs. This is a key pre-process to ensure the corner coverage effect of the coating. Surface cleaning and roughening: Use sandblasting or chemical cleaning to remove the surface oxide layer and oil stains, and at the same time moderately roughen the surface to increase coating adhesion for Insulated Coating Tinned Solid Copper Busbar Connector.

Powder Coating

Preheating: Heat the copper bar evenly to the set temperature (usually 180-220°C, adjusted according to the powder formula). Spray coating or dip coating: Depending on the product shape and batch requirements, an electrostatic spray gun is used for automatic spray coating, or a fluidized bed is used for dip coating. For large batches of standard parts, automated spray lines can achieve uniform and stable coating thickness control. Curing: Complete the curing process in a constant-temperature drying tunnel to ensure that the coating is fully cross-linked and achieves optimal mechanical and electrical properties.

Detection and Testing

Coating thickness detection: Use an eddy current thickness gauge for multi-point detection to ensure that the thickness is uniform and meets the design requirements. Pinhole detection: A high-voltage spark leak detector is used to comprehensively scan the coating. Any pinholes or weak points will trigger an alarm to ensure the integrity of the insulation layer. Adhesion test: Carry out cross-hatch or pull-out adhesion test according to relevant standards. Withstand voltage test: Conduct power frequency withstand voltage or lightning impulse withstand voltage test according to the voltage level required by the customer for Electric Vehicle Busbar Coating.

FAQ

Q: Can epoxy powder-insulated copper bars be bent?

A: Yes. Our insulation powder formula is specially modified to provide a certain degree of flexibility. For prefabricated straight rows, small angle bends after spray insulation will usually not cause cracking of the coating. However, for large angles or complex bending, it is recommended to perform bending processing first and then perform insulation spraying to ensure the best effect.

Q: How is the temperature resistance of epoxy powder coating compared to heat shrink tubing?

A: Epoxy powder is a thermosetting material with excellent temperature stability. Not only does it not soften and flow like thermoplastic materials in high-temperature environments, it can also withstand higher operating temperatures for a long time, and it still maintains good impact resistance in low-temperature environments. Its comprehensive weather resistance is far better than that of ordinary heat shrink sleeves.

Q: What if the connection part needs special treatment?

A: We can accurately reserve tin-plated, silver-plated or bare copper connection areas during the production stage based on the customer's CAD drawings, eliminating the need for you to carry out secondary stripping on site, ensuring construction efficiency and the reliability of the contact surface to the greatest extent.

Q: Are powder-coated insulated busbars suitable for outdoor use?

A: Standard powder is suitable for indoor or general industrial environments. For outdoor exposure, strong ultraviolet rays, coastal high salt spray or chemically corrosive environments, we can provide weather-resistant or anti-corrosion enhanced powders to meet the requirements of corresponding working conditions.
