Advantages of Copper Busbar
Copper busbar (also known as spelled bus bar) is an element used for connecting and distributing electrical power. It is soft, malleable, and ductile. It has high thermal and electrical conductivity. It is a common material for a wide range of applications.
In many countries, copper is the most commonly chosen conductive metal for busbars and electrical utilities for a number of reasons. These include:
Higher Conductivity
The most important benefit of using copper in a busbar is that it has higher electrical conductivity than aluminum. This means that it can carry more current through the same area without increasing the cost or reducing energy efficiency.
Resistance to High Temperatures
As a result of this, copper is better at resisting high temperatures than aluminum. This can help to avoid the risk of fire and damage during installation.
Resilience to Short Circuits
Because copper is a more ductile and malleable metal, it is more resilient to a short circuit than aluminum. This can help to prevent a short circuit from breaking down the busbar or damaging a component that is not connected directly to it.
Tin Plating
The use of tin on a copper bus bar improves its corrosion resistance, electrical conductivity, and solderability. It also helps to reduce the amount of surface oxidation that is required.
Powder Coating
A popular method for improving the durability and electrical conductivity of copper bus bars is to apply a coating Powdercoat to them. However, this can cause a problem if you need to get some of the surface oxidized or have specific areas that require electrical conductivity.
Customization
We can custom-bend, offset, notch, drill, and tap copper ground bus bars from 1/8'' to 1/2'' thick. This can make them more flexible and easier to work with than straight or unbent bus bars.

UL and RoHS Compliant
In addition to our standard product range, we can offer bespoke designs to suit your exact requirements. We can also provide a range of finishes and hardware insertion to complement your design, including plastic injection molded components.
Our range of copper busbars is suitable for a number of different applications, including:
Flexible and Insulated
The majority of our insulated flexible busbars are manufactured from a single strip of copper foil which is then tightly diffusion welded at each end to enable rigid connections while ensuring that the middle section remains flexible. These are available in lengths of up to 9.84 ft.
UL and RoHS Compliant
We can manufacture a wide range of busbars from our custom-formed strips of copper. This can be part of a fully custom enclosure or it can be a standalone product that is able to distribute a significant amount of current.
EMI/RFI Compliant
Our copper busbars are insulated with PVC and have a minimum operating temperature of -58 degrees Fahrenheit to +221 degrees Fahrenheit. The insulation is also vibration-resistant and dielectric tested.
Designed for local high-current distribution, these copper busbars are available in multiple sizes. They can be fitted inside switchgear, panel boards, and busway enclosures.
