The Era Of Intelligent Automobile Is Coming

May 17, 2022

Vehicle intelligence mainly refers to vehicles breaking through the role of means of transportation and becoming an automatically evolving product that meets the diverse needs of users like smartphones. It is a core feature of smart cars to realize software and hardware upgrades and provide more functions and services through OTA (over-the-air upgrades).

OTA technology generally has two sets of classification standards: 1) From the upgrade object, OTA can be divided into firmware upgrade (FOTA) and pure software upgrade (SOTA), among which FOTA requires a higher technical level. 2) From the upgrade level, it can be divided into application-level OTA, media-level OTA, and vehicle OTA. Application-level OTA only upgrades in-vehicle media application software, such as navigation, with limited upgrade content; media-level OTA upgrades the in-vehicle central control system; vehicle OTA can upgrade all modules in the car.

The era of the intelligent automobile is coming. At the 2021 Lenovo Innovation and Technology Conference, BYD Chairman Wang Chuanfu said: "We have entered an era of intelligent transformation, a major change in the automotive industry, electrification is the first half, and intelligence is the second half." Tesla is the OTA of the whole vehicle. Leading companies and new car-making forces are generally more radical than the OTAs of traditional car companies, while BYD is the earliest domestic car brand to achieve OTA for complete vehicles.

1) In April 2018, BYD released DiLink, an intelligent network connection system, including four modules: Di Pad, Di Cloud, Di Eco, and Di Open. The platform is compatible with the mobile phone ecosystem and has a unique car ecosystem. The company also opens up the sensors and control rights of the system.

2) In July 2019, the company released DiLink 2.0 and upgraded more applications.

3) In 2020, the company will release DiLink 3.0. DiLink 3.0 adds a Di UI module based on the original four modules, with functions such as high-temperature disinfection, express delivery to the car, clairvoyance, and mobile cloud OTA.

4) In 2021, the company will release DiLink 4.0 with more powerful functions. BYD has established a strong advantage in human-computer interaction, function reference, service ecology, etc., through the DiLink platform with a unique rotatable screen.

DiPilot is an advanced intelligent driving assistance system for automobiles launched by BYD Intelligent Networking Center, which is divided into hardware and software. On the hardware side, it consists of a wealth of sensors; on the software side, the DiDAS driver assistance technology and the DiTrainer coaching mode "complement each other". Among them, the hardware base includes 3 high-precision millimeter-wave radars, which are located behind the front bumper LOGO and on the left and right sides of the rear bumper; a total of 12 ultrasonic radars, of which 2 are located on the front grille, 4 are located in the rear bumper, and 2 are located on the left and right sides of the rear bumper.

One is located on the turn signal decoration, and the other four automatic parking probes are located at the wheel eyebrows on both sides of the front and rear bumpers, respectively; in addition, there is one intelligent driving high perception camera and four intelligent Driving around the camera, all-round, with no dead ends to ensure driving safety.

As intelligent vehicles evolve, their reliance on high-performance energy storage systems becomes increasingly critical. To support advanced vehicle functions such as full-vehicle OTA upgrades and intelligent driving assistance systems like DiPilot, high-quality battery enclosures are essential to ensure safety, thermal management, and structural integrity. Our company's lithium-ion battery aluminum alloy housings are specifically engineered for new energy vehicles, providing lightweight yet robust protection, excellent heat dissipation, and long-term reliability-making them an ideal choice for powering the next generation of intelligent electric cars.
