Enel Peru Plans To Build A 300MW Wind And Solar Project
Jun 08, 2022
Italian utility group Enel SpA recently launched construction on two new energy projects in Peru, planning to add approximately 300 megawatts of wind and solar power capacity. According to an announcement from its subsidiary Enel Peru, both projects will be undertaken by its renewable energy division, Enel Green Power Peru.
The Peruvian unit will expand the Wayra I wind farm in Ica province by 177 megawatts. Enel Peru stated that the expansion project is expected to cost $188.5 million (approximately €175.5 million) and will install 30 wind turbines, each with a capacity of 5.9 megawatts. The other project is the Clemesi solar power plant in Moquegua province, with an installed capacity of 122.59 megawatts. The company plans to invest $77.9 million to install over 200,000 bifacial photovoltaic panels. Both power plants are expected to be operational in 2023.
Currently, Enel Peru's non-hydropower renewable energy plants in Peru consist only of the 132.3 MW Wayra I wind farm and the 180 MW Rubi solar power plant, which are also the largest of their kind in the country.
The progress of these projects demonstrates Peru's proactive approach to renewable energy development, while simultaneously placing higher demands on the manufacturing, installation, and management of wind and solar power equipment. In practical engineering, the energy efficiency and reliability of wind farms and solar power plants depend not only on the generator sets and solar modules themselves, but also on high-performance electrical connectors, busbars, and fuse protection devices to ensure long-term stable operation.
Correspondingly, our company provides high-precision Copper BusBars, high-reliability Fuse Cap Contact Assemblies, and durable Electrical Cabinet systems, all of which can be applied to the power transmission and safety protection systems of wind farms and solar power plants, providing safe and efficient power management solutions for renewable energy projects.
