China's Largest Open Sea Fishing And Photovoltaic Complementary Demonstration Project Starts Offshore Installation

Jan 13, 2025

On January 11, after a safety inspection by the maritime department, the "Baoding 16" left the dock carrying the first steel platform of the China Power Construction Qingdao Jimo Offshore Photovoltaic Project, including key components such as Aluminum Accessories for Solar Mounting, and sailed to the Aoshan Bay waters of Jimo District, 12 nautical miles away for offshore installation. This project is China's first offshore pile-based fixed photovoltaic project for fishery integration development, and is also the largest fishery-photovoltaic complementary demonstration project in China's open waters.

Offshore Photovoltaic Projects

The China Power Construction Qingdao Jimo Offshore Photovoltaic Project is located in Aoshan Bay, Jimo District, Qingdao City, and is the first offshore photovoltaic project in Qingdao. The total investment of the project is 10.2 billion yuan, and it is planned to build a 1.15 million kilowatt pile-based photovoltaic power generation project, and introduce photovoltaic components, system integration and other new energy industry chain projects including Aluminum Mounting Bracket. The first phase is planned to build 600,000 kilowatts, and the second phase is planned to build 550,000 kilowatts. The first phase of the project, which has started construction, will set up 63 offshore photovoltaic sub-arrays, with a cable length of 50.55KM and 164 base towers.

The project deeply integrates fishery and photovoltaic industries, realizes comprehensive utilization of marine resources and precision breeding, and can not only efficiently utilize marine resources, realize dual-use of one place and achieve multiple goals at one stroke, but also expands China's new ideas for offshore new energy development, which will greatly drive and promote the development of offshore photovoltaic power generation, including related accessories such as Aluminum Mounting Brackets, optimize the power structure of the power grid, and increase energy supply.

Aluminum Alloy Waterproof Solar Rail

The shipment of the first steel platform of the China Power Construction Qingdao Jimo Offshore Photovoltaic Project marks the full launch of the offshore installation operation of the project. After the completion of the first phase of the project, it is expected to generate about 1.07 billion kWh of electricity per year, save about 327,000 tons of standard coal, and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by about 871,000 tons. It is expected that the project will be connected to the grid for the first time on March 30, 2025.

To ensure the safety of this shipment and installation operation, Qingdao Maritime Department has a deep understanding of the project characteristics, analyzes the navigation environment in the jurisdiction, and implements a dynamic list to classify and grade risk hazards, strictly control the safety standards of construction ships, ensure the seaworthiness of ships and the competence of crews, and comprehensively guarantee the safe and smooth construction of offshore photovoltaic projects including the installation of Aluminum Accessories for Solar Mounting.
