How Is The Fuse Used On The Charging Pile?

May 25, 2023

The fuse plays an important protective role on the charging pile (electric vehicle charging pile), and is used to protect the charging pile and the charging circuit from faults such as overcurrent and short circuit. The following are common ways to use fuses on charging piles:

Input side protection: Charging piles need to be connected to the grid for power supply. On the input side of the charging pile, a fuse is usually installed between the charging pile and the grid to protect the charging pile and the grid from overcurrent and short circuit. These fuses should be selected according to the rated power of the charging pile and the power supply requirements of the grid.

Output side protection: The charging pile provides power through the output port to charge the electric vehicle. On the output side of the charging pile, a fuse is usually installed between the charging pile and the electric vehicle to protect the charging pile and the electric vehicle from overcurrent and short circuit. These fuses should be selected with appropriate rated current according to the output power of the charging pile and the charging demand of the electric vehicle.

Control circuit protection: Charging piles usually also contain control circuits and monitoring circuits to realize the control and protection functions of charging piles. In these control circuits, fuses can be used to protect electronic components and controllers from overcurrent and short circuits.

When using a fuse, it is necessary to select the appropriate fuse model and rated current according to the design and rated current requirements of the charging pile. In addition, the fuse should be installed in the appropriate position of the input and output circuits of the charging pile, and the applicable installation guidelines and standards need to be followed to ensure its normal operation and reliable fault protection function.
