Perovskite solar cells are promising renewable energy devices due to their attractive properties. However, they face challenges in terms of power conversion efficiency and long-term stability. The presence of surface defects in perovskite solar cells is a significant obstacle to achieving high efficiency and stability, as these defects can lead to nonradiative recombination and degradation. In view of this, Seoul National University Byungwoo Park & Suwon University Jinhyun Kim published the research results of double-sided passivation of perovskite solar cells to achieve high performance and stability at AFM on September 12, 2023, using phenyltrimethyl iodide A new double-sided surface passivation method using ammonium (PTMAI) salt to effectively remove electronic defects. In addition, PTMAI double-sided passivation helps enhance perovskite crystallinity and relax the uneven distribution of local strain. Finally, through PTMAI double-sided passivation, the efficiency of perovskite solar cells was significantly improved, reaching an efficiency of 21.87%. Furthermore, the passivated cells showed enhanced long-term stability, retaining more than 80% of the initial efficiency after 1860 hours and 1030 hours at 60°C and 1 sun, respectively.
