Powin Energy Will Supply More Than 5.8GWh Of Battery Energy Storage Systems Globally in The Next Three Years

May 19, 2022

According to reports, American renewable energy developer Ameresco and energy storage system integrator Powin Energy recently signed a non-exclusive procurement framework to purchase Powin Energy's 2.5GWh Stack750 battery storage system by 2025.

Under the agreement, Ameresco will deploy battery storage systems for various customer projects by mid-2025. The company said it chose to use Powin Energy's Stack750 energy storage product because of its suitability for a variety of energy storage projects, reduced deployment time and footprint, and lower overall investment costs.

Doran Hole, Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Ameresco, commented: "As costs fall and the technology matures, battery energy storage systems have rapidly become the clean energy technology of choice. Whether deployed independently or in conjunction with solar power generation facilities or part of a microgrid solution, battery energy storage systems have become an integral technology for those seeking to improve energy resilience and reliability.

Meanwhile, Powin Energy is the fifth-largest commercial and industrial (C&I) or utility-scale battery storage system integrator in the world, according to research firm IHS Markit. The company recently announced that it will produce its Centipede energy storage platform in North America through manufacturer Celestica's facility in Mexico, of which the Stack750 battery storage system is part.

Commenting on the procurement framework, Powin Energy CEO Geoff Brown said, "Through our new North American production facility, we plan to provide Ameresco with the advanced, modular, and high-power-density energy storage systems required for its use cases, and Experience needed to deal with supply chain constraints."

Powin Energy has provided more than 2GWh of battery backup cabinet systems in 12 U.S. states and 7 other countries and regions, and will supply more than 5.8GWh of battery energy storage systems globally in the next three years.
