A research result of the Swiss Astrostrom company has attracted widespread attention. They designed a space station called GE⊕-LPS (Earth Lunar Power Station), whose main function is to provide stable and reliable power to the moon base through solar panels. The space station is located at the Earth-Moon Lagrangian point about 61,350 kilometers away from the lunar surface. This position is the gateway between the Earth and the moon. Due to its special location, it is enough to transmit 23MW of microwave power to the receiver on the lunar surface to meet the energy needed to run a lunar base.

 

The design of GE⊕-LPS adopts the local resources of the moon, such as the raw materials of pyrite solar cells that can be collected on the moon, which realizes self-assembly in space and reduces labor costs. In addition, by using the lower gravity of the moon to launch solar system satellites, the cost of launching will also be greatly reduced.

 

In addition to powering lunar bases, GE⊕-LPS solar system satellites are also expected to provide power to Earth. In the future, with the help of GE⊕-LPS technology, more solar satellites can be produced on the moon to provide enough clean energy for the earth, and at the same time create many other benefits, including the development of the earth-moon transportation system, mining and processing on the moon and orbit and manufacturing facilities, etc.

 

At present, experts say that the realization of GE⊕-LPS may not require any technological breakthroughs, because most of the core technologies for mining, beneficiation, and manufacturing operations on the lunar surface have already been used or developed on the earth. Applying these technologies in GE⊕-LPS, Robots remotely operate the lunar surface to perform work, supplied and assembled in modular form.
