Q1 Global Power Battery Installed Capacity Ranking: BYD Surpasses Panasonic, and Honeycomb Energy Ranks In The Top 10
The data shows that in Q1 2022, the total installed capacity of power batteries in the world will be 95.1GWh, a significant increase of 93.3% year-on-year. Among them, the top 10 battery companies are: CATL, LG New Energy, BYD (Fudi Battery), Panasonic, SK On, China Innovation Aviation, Samsung SDI, Guoxuan Hi-Tech, Honeycomb Energy, and Yiwei Lithium Energy. The total market share is as high as 91.9%.
Overall, China, South Korea, and Japan are still the main countries contributing to the global power battery capacity. Among the top 10 companies, there are 6 Chinese battery companies, 3 Korean, and 1 Japanese battery company, respectively.
Among the top 10 companies, the installed capacity of CATL increased by 137.7% year-on-year, and its market share rose to 35%. It has ranked first for five consecutive years and maintained a growth momentum. Its long-term customers include not only domestic companies such as Weilai, Xiaopeng, BAIC, and Changan, but also well-known overseas manufacturers such as Tesla, Volkswagen, Hyundai, and Honda.
Recently, CATL has continued to expand production capacity. Its plant in Thuringia, Germany, has obtained 8GWh of battery cell production licenses, and is expected to reach a planned production capacity of 14GWh by the end of this year, and will supply BMW and other complete machine plants.
There are also foreign media reports that the site selection of its US power battery factory has also entered the final review stage. Although CATL did not comment on this rumor, it has publicly stated that "the US market must be entered."
With an installed capacity of 10.5GWh, BYD's Fudi Battery ranks first among the top 10 companies in terms of year-on-year growth, helping its market share surpass Panasonic and rise to third in the world.
Since the beginning of this year, BYD's electric vehicle sales have soared, and the sales of several "explosive" models have boosted the installed capacity of its Fudi battery power batteries. In Q1 2022, BYD's electric vehicle sales will reach 286,000 units, narrowing the gap with Tesla's 310,000 units to less than 30,000 units.
In addition, BYD has announced that it will stop the production of fuel vehicles from March 2022, and will launch a new model of electric vehicles in May, which is bound to further increase the installed capacity of Fudi Battery's power batteries.
