Inverters: An Important Part Of Photovoltaic Systems
Aug 11, 2023
Usually, the process of converting AC power into DC power is called rectification, the circuit that completes the rectification function is called a rectifier circuit, and the device that realizes the rectification process is called a rectifier or a rectifier. Correspondingly, the process of converting DC power into AC power is called an inverter, the circuit that completes the inverter function is called an inverter circuit, and the device that realizes the inverter process is called inverter equipment or inverter.
The inverter is located in the middle reaches of the photovoltaic industry and is an important part of the photovoltaic system. The entire industrial layout is as follows:

The structure of the inverter:
The inverter is composed of an inverter circuit, logic control circuit, and filter circuit, mainly including an input interface, voltage start circuit, MOS switch tube, PWM controller, DC conversion circuit, a feedback circuit, LC oscillation, and output circuit, load, and so on. The control circuit controls the operation of the entire system, the inverter circuit completes the function of converting direct current to alternating current, and the filter circuit is used to filter out unnecessary signals. This is how the inverter works. The work of the inverter circuit can also be defined as follows: first, the oscillating circuit converts the direct current into alternating current; second, the coil boosts the irregular alternating current into a square wave alternating current; finally, the rectification makes the alternating current change from a square wave to a sine wave alternating current.
Development:
In 2022, according to the data of Solar Power Europe, the installed capacity of household storage in Europe will rise sharply. Based on the 2.29GWh in 2021, the installed capacity in 2022 may reach 7GWh, a year-on-year increase of more than 200%. With the installed capacity of household storage As the tide rises, the inverters located in the middle reaches will rise.
Under the background of NEM, the U.S. market will stimulate the installed capacity of household photovoltaics in the market, but at the same time, it will weaken the economics of energy storage for local users. According to the data of the American Clean Power Association, the installed capacity in 2021 will be 0.9GWh It is estimated that it will reach about 1.8GWh in 2022, an increase of about 100%.
According to CPIA statistics, string inverters may have become the mainstream of the inverter market, accounting for nearly 70% in 2021, while distributed inverters accounted for 2.7% and centralized inverters accounted for 27.7% %.
In terms of global shipments, according to Wood Mackenzie statistics, Huawei and Sungrow ranked first and second, and the top five were all Chinese companies. The third to fifth were Growatt (6%) and Ginlong Technology ( 6%), GoodWe (6%).
Talent development:
According to the current market and the positions responsible for recruitment, the following needs for inverters will become popular positions:
1. DSP embedded
Because the control application of DSP is more on audio, and DSP is indispensable and very important in the inverter, and the relevant talents are scarce in the current market, this position may become a popular position in this field.
2. Inverter products/projects
Because the inverter is only a component of photovoltaic energy storage, in order to realize the product application, someone needs to be able to do the corresponding work, so this position may become a popular position in this field.
3. Electrical engineer
Enter the inverter industry from a traditional electrical position and choose a new track.
