Lightsource BP Plans To Build 1GW PV Project in France By 2026
May 16, 2022
UK-based solar developer Lightsource bp, which is half-owned by BP, wants to complete a 1-gigawatt large-scale solar project in France by 2026 through a new French subsidiary.
Aix-en-Provence-based Lightsource bp France will cover the entire life cycle of the solar project to be developed, including initial site selection, financing, permitting, long-term management, and electricity sales. The focus will be on ground-mounted options.
The company is currently looking for employees in 15 different positions in France, intends to participate in an open tender, and offers a corporate power purchase agreement (PPA) at competitive prices.
The new subsidiary will be led by Rafael Colas, who said the company will invest in projects at various stages of development.
"Some projects will be developed from scratch, others will be developed with partners. We will also invest in projects that are under evaluation or have all the necessary permits," Colas explained.
France has pledged to incorporate at least 100 gigawatts of solar power capacity into its energy mix by 2050.
Against the backdrop of continued growth in global solar power installations, reliable and efficient photovoltaic (PV) modules have become crucial for project success. Our company's aluminum alloy solar PV modules, with their excellent corrosion resistance, lightweight design, and high-strength structure, perfectly match the installation requirements of ground-mounted power plants and large-scale PV projects, providing robust and long-term reliable support for projects like Lightsource BP's 1 GW solar project in France.
