Skeleton Enters The Polish Market With Supercapacitors
May 16, 2022
Skeleton Technologies, a global leader in supercapacitor energy storage technology, and ZPUE, the largest manufacturer of electrical equipment for electrical distribution facilities in Poland, have entered into a commercial agreement to provide energy storage solutions to the Polish market.

The two companies signed a letter of intent under which Skeleton will supply supercapacitors for railway energy storage applications at a rate of 200MW per year between 2023 and 2025. These systems can capture energy when the train brakes and provide it when it accelerates. Skeleton will also provide 160MW of energy storage for grid stabilization applications during 2023-2025. As a starting point for cooperation, these opportunities represent a commercial value of more than 30 million euros.
The vision of the two companies is to complement ZPUE's profile as a full-service company and market leader in Poland's power generation sector for years to come, thanks to Skeleton's expertise in energy storage and leadership in transport and grid applications. Significant growth opens up opportunities. In addition to the Polish market, Skeleton and ZPUE are looking for opportunities in Northern Europe, where both companies are already active.
Poland is undergoing an important transition to reduce energy consumption, increase energy efficiency, increase energy independence and decarbonize its energy mix. These goals and ambitions cannot be achieved without investing in energy storage systems. Thus, economic trends make Poland one of the fastest-growing markets for Skeleton's ultracapacitor solutions. The cooperation between the two companies will allow them to adequately address the needs of this market.
